In
1960, Allied Towers opened in Scarborough, Ontario. Eight years later, as
a high school student, I joined Towers Department Stores as a part-time
sales clerk. Twenty-two years after that, I left.
Recently, while searching the Internet, I was surprised and disappointed to see
little mention of Towers. To be sure, there were many, many references to its
demise. Other than that not much else.
This website will
attempt, slowly and over time, to put a face to a company that, on balance,
treated me well and that I fondly remember -- especially the people I worked
with.
Stretching from
Ontario to the east coast, Towers (Bonimart in Quebec) affected the working
lives of many.
