Towers Radio Commercial

You Made Us Part of Your Family

In 2008 I received a remarkable addition to this website from Syd Kessler of Rocket Boys Inc -- a copy of a Towers radio commercial.

In October this year (2010), I commissioned John Zechiel to transcribe the audio sound track to sheet music and to midi audio which I converted to mp3 format.

Now you can print out the sheet music, fire up your mp3 player and sing along!

About Me

In 1960, Allied Towers opened in Scarborough, Ontario. Eight years later, as a high school student, I joined Towers Department Stores as a part-time sales clerk. Twenty-two years after that, I left.

Recently, while searching the Internet, I was surprised and disappointed to see little mention of Towers. To be sure, there were many, many references to its demise. Other than that not much else.

This website will attempt, slowly and over time, to put a face to a company that, on balance, treated me well and that I fondly remember -- especially the people I worked with.

Stretching from Ontario to the east coast, Towers (Bonimart in Quebec) affected the working lives of many.
